ArtLibre.intervir.net Manifesto

WHO?

ArtLibre.intervir.net is a webportal and an online community. We belong to a larger and growing movement of people and organizations that support free culture and copyleft, free/libre software and open source. We support fresh ideas and creativity, new media and digital art, collaboration and social networks.

WHY?

We see the digital space as a worldwide public domain, owned by all human beings, that requires and supports a new global approach to the way we choose to live in this planet. A web of time and space that encourages mass collaboration and sharing, creativity and innovation. We don't see humanity as a worldwide market and human beings as buyers and clients, our life will not be summarized by a "born-sell-buy-and-then-you-die" trajectory.

If we want to say a word about our present and future, as individuals and as a collective project, we need to retake the public space, we need to retake the digital space and refuse the corporations and profit-driven organizations monopolies and control. We need education-driven, art-driven, community-driven organizations.

Because we believe that another world, a better world, is possible and that the digital space plays an essential role in our choices, we want to retake our present and future, we want to retake art and culture.

HOW?

  • We support Free/Libre digital artists by providing a webspace where artists can meet and discuss, share ideas and resources, share what they know and help each other, collaborate and show their work.
  • Animaxion Studioz is a "brother" project devoted to animation.
  • Intervir.net, the first project, is a portuguese webportal devoted to F/LOSS in general but with a special focus on education and free knowledge/culture.
